David Martin is Chairman of the Board of Directors and co-founder of the Company. He has been a director of the Company or its predecessors since 1987. He served as Executive Chairman from 2007 to April 2012. Prior to 2007, he served the company in various other capacities including CEO, Co-CEO, President and Chairman of the board. Mr. Martin is the creator of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and the named inventor with respect to numerous patents. He has received many awards for his contributions to the industry, including the Alberta Centennial Medal for High-Tech Innovation and the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance Award for Private Sector and Leadership in Advanced Technology.

Nancy Knowlton is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors and co-founder of the Company. She has been a director of the Company or its predecessors since 1987. From 2007 to April 2012 she served as President and CEO. Prior to 2007, she served the company in various other capacities including Co-CEO, President, COO and Executive Vice President. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration and she qualified as a chartered accountant in Alberta. Ms. Knowlton has received numerous awards, including Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and honorary doctorate degrees from two Canadian universities.

Neil Gaydon was appointed President and CEO of SMART Technologies in October 2012 and became a director of the Company in February 2013. Prior to joining SMART, Mr. Gaydon was CEO of Pace plc, a technology developer for pay TV and broadband service providers. During his tenure as CEO at Pace, he led the company through a major turnaround resulting in a ten-fold increase in revenues to become the world leader. Prior to becoming the CEO of Pace, he served in numerous executive and senior positions there, including President Pace Americas, which he established and led for five years. Before joining Pace, Mr. Gaydon worked with a number of technology companies in various key roles. Throughout his career, his hallmark has been defining and executing strategy, creating effective structure and changing business culture on a global scale.
Mr. Gaydon is a graduate of Harvard Business School in the Advanced Management Program. His awards include 2009 Institute of Directors 'Director of the Year', 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner, 2008 TechMARK Personality of the Year as well as leading Pace to three consecutive Queen's Awards.

Salim Nathoo has been a director of the company since August 2007, following Apax Partners' investment in the company. Mr. Nathoo is a Partner and global co-head of Apax Partners' technology and telecom team. He joined Apax Partners in 1999. From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Nathoo was with McKinsey & Company, an international management consulting firm, in various capacities. He currently also serves on the board of directors of iGATE Corporation, a US provider of IT services, Orange Communications SA, a Swiss telecommunications company, and Sophos Limited, a UK based software company. Apax Partners is a significant shareholder of the company.

Arvind Sodhani has been a director of the company since August 2007. Mr. Sodhani is Executive Vice President of Intel Corporation and President of Intel Capital and since 1981 has served Intel Corporation in various capacities including Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Vice President and Senior Vice President. In 2005, Mr. Sodhani was appointed President of Intel Capital, the strategic investment arm of Intel Corporation directing Intel's external investments and mergers and acquisitions in support of Intel's strategic objectives. Mr. Sodhani served as a member of the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. board of directors from 1997 to 2007. Intel Corporation is a significant shareholder of the company.

Michael J. Mueller has been a director of the Company since July 2010. He retired from the audit firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2007 as the Global Leader of PwC's Private Company Services/Middle Market Practice. From his appointment as Partner in 1979 through 2007, Mr. Mueller served PwC in various other capacities, including Managing Partner, National Managing Partner and a member of PwC's Global Markets Council, Global Advisory Leadership Team and Global Audit Leadership Team. He currently serves on the board of directors of Hydro One Inc., an electricity transmission and distribution company in Ontario, Canada. Mr. Mueller is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator.
Robert C. Hagerty has been a director of the Company since July 2010. Mr. Hagerty is currently Chief Executive Officer and a director of iControl Networks, Inc. Since 2011, Mr. Hagerty has also served as a director of Plantronics, Inc., a personal audio communications company. Mr. Hagerty served Polycom, Inc. in various executive capacities and as an advisor from 1997 through 2011, including as Chairman, Director, CEO and President. Prior to joining Polycom, Mr. Hagerty served as President of Stylus Assets, Ltd. He has also held several key executive management positions with Logitech, Inc., Conner Peripherals Inc., Signal Corporation, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Hagerty served on the board of Palm, Inc. in various capacities from 2005 to 2010, including Lead Independent Director, Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee and Audit Committee member.
David B. Sutcliffe has been a director of the Company since June 2011. He is a recognized technology industry executive whose career spans three decades across various executive functions. Mr. Sutcliffe was the Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Wireless, Inc., a provider of mobile broadband modems, from 1995 to 2005 and he was the Chair of the Sierra board of directors from 2001 to 2005. He currently holds a board position with Ballard Power Systems Inc., a global leader in fuel cell technology. Along with his work on corporate boards, Mr. Sutcliffe is active with British Columbia Social Venture Partners and has worked with several associations and industry organizations. Mr. Sutcliffe holds the ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
